Dyson Parody - Darts - CALL 8942

Dyson’s taken the local Darts scene by storm, enjoying success on either side of the border. Perhaps the highlight of his year came in May’s PDC Gibraltar Open, when he took World Number One, Michael van Gerwen all the way in the Quarter Finals before narrowly falling short 6-5.

Amanda Carreras - Tennis - CALL 8943

Amanda continues to make strides on the court. Success on the ITF Doubles and Singles Circuit has seen her World Ranking rise to an impressive 274.

Arnold Rogers - Athletics - CALL 8944

Having burst onto the athletics scene at the start of 2016, Arnold’s stamina and style has quickly made him the man to beat whether it be on track or road.

Joelle Moreno - Netball - CALL 8945

Joelle’s unique ability and versatility has seen her become a key member of her respective netball, basketball and football teams.

Jerai Torres - Athletics - CALL 8946

2016 proved to be a pivotal year in Jerai’s progress and path to becoming Gibraltar’s top sprinter. He broke both the 60m indoor and 100m outdoor national records along the way.

Lee Casciaro - Football - CALL 8947

Age is just a number. The 35 year old continues to lead the line for club and country with pride. His match-winning goal against Celtic in the Champions League Qualifiers will no doubt live long in our memories.

Roy Chipolina - Football - CALL 8948

No stranger to this category, Roy’s class and influence on and off the pitch make him the perfect role model, and a stellar captain for the national team.

Elite Netball Team - CALL 8949

The top team on the Rock in recent years, and 2016 brought them even more success.

Lincoln Red Imps - CALL 8950

Up for their 8th nomination in this category, Lincoln’s dominance spans over a decade now and 2016 was particularly memorable, after their European exploits.

Gibraltar Rugby Senior National Squad - CALL 8951

A new comer to the category, but by no means making up the numbers. A string of impressive results away from the Rock has thrust them into consideration for FIRA membership.

Gibraltar National Swim Squad - CALL 8952

Having competed in the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Canada, the Gibraltar team went above and beyond, achieving 8 national records, 16 PB’s and 15 Commonwealth consideration times in the process.


Junior Individual

Niran Jeffries - Moto - CALL 8953

Mini motor sports makes it onto the list for a second year running, Niran's control and skill has seen him achieve a string of podium places on the Andalucian Circuit.

Jonathan Bear - Pool - CALL 8954

Jonathan’s earned himself a brilliant reputation in the local pool scene. Alongside his Irish partner Anthony McAleer the pair became U15's World Pool Doubles Champions, at the recent World Championships in Ireland.

Sebastian Desoisa - Golf - CALL 8955

Another new comer, Seb’s not only put Golf on the local sporting map, but he’s taken the Andalucian Circuit by storm, finishing top in his age group, and second in the European Championships.

Ilyal Rodionov - Taekwondo - CALL 8956

Another product of the highly-acclaimed Gibraltar Taekwondo Association, Ilya Rodionov became national champion winning the U11’s crown for Poomsae at the British Championships.

Amy Pozo – Netball - CALL 8957

Captain and Player of the Tournament at the U17’s Netball Europe Challenge section held here last spring, Amy was key to the team’s success.

Henry Archer – Badminton - CALL 8958

Flying through the Badminton ranks, Henry hit top form in 2016 winning the singles and doubles at both U16's and U18's level. Currently ranked number 4 in the singles, his hard work has earned him a call up to the squad for the Natwest Island Games in June.

Netball U17's - CALL 8959

The team were crowned Champions at the Netball Europe’s Challenge Section in March, which were held in Gibraltar after beating the Republic of Ireland, Malta and Switzerland.

Lincoln Red Imps Childline U9's - CALL 8960

This young squad is following in the footsteps of their senior side; they dominated the league and won the Argus Cup, Palmones Triangular Tournament and most significantly were winners of the Ibercup B finals.

 Jujitsu Squad - CALL 8961

The 6-member team returned from the World Congress Championships in Benidorm with 15 medals, 4 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze; double the amount won in 2015.

Calpe Rowing Pair - Jake Moreno and Jack Prior - CALL 8962

Rowing continues to flourish with yet another great performance at the British Championships. This time Jake and Jack brought home silver in the double scull event.
