James Neish

James is GBC's Head of Radio & Online. He was promoted to this position in 2012, after seven years as a Senior Broadcast Journalist in the GBC Newsroom. This followed an earlier five years as a producer/presenter with Radio Gibraltar.

James has freelanced for the BBC, Sky News and ITV amongst many other channels. He has a postgraduate in journalism from the London School of Journalism.

He has had an interest in the media since an early age and started writing for the Gibraltar Chronicle as an ‘A’ Level Student.

In 2001 he was awarded a CBA Bursary to travel to Canada for a study on bi-media reporting. There he was attached to CBC-TV.

James has anchored many rolling stories for both radio and TV news, including the sea rescue of 31 men from the ‘Fedra’ Disaster at Europa Point. In 2007 he was in Portugal working on a documentary about missing Madeleine, in which he interviewed Kate and Gerry McCann, and in 2008 covered Albert Hammond’s induction into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in New York.

In his spare time he is a keen supporter of the arts, particularly theatre. Outside of GBC James heads the production company Stage One and has produced numerous stage shows and musicals.
