A ten million pound eco-park expansion project is to be set up at the old incinerator site. The project approved unanimously by the DPC will create 60 new jobs. The directors are looking at Portugal and Rotterdam for waste exportation and talking to a Portugese firm about new waste streams. The project will help reduce the dependency on the frontier flow and increase shipping volume.
It will start with waste separation, with plans for expansion aiming to increase waste recycling from 25 to 72 percent.
