RGP searches Profield depot following 'Al-Quaeda' arrests

The Royal Gibraltar Police, yesterday evening searched the Profield depot at Eastern Beach in connection with the arrest of an al- Qaeda suspect in La Linea on Wednesday. Three men were arrested in Spain following signs they were planning an attack in Spain and / or other countries. The man a Turkish national had been working in Gibraltar, for construction company, Profield. He was a resident in La Linea and has been described as a facilitator in the cell.

Although the suspect was identified by the Spanish authorities only by his initials C.Y., its understood the suspect is Cengiz Yalcin, named as site manager on the Profield Contractors Website. It’s believed he had worked at the firm for some time and had been involved with a project at Western Beach as recently as last week.
