The new Harding’s Battery Gun has been officially inaugurated. After improvements were made to Europa Point in 2011, the site was cleaned up, but left without a gun.
An appropriate barrel was found at the old Dockyard South Gate and Casais have since made a gun carriage.
Its inclusion completes the Harding’s Battery site, which now also features a flag pole flying the Union Jack.
Guests included Vice Chairman of the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, Richard Labrador, Heritage Minister Stephen Linares and the Governor Sir Adrian Johns.
The gun is a 19th Century 12.5inch loading gun, weighing 45 tons, with the carriage weighing an extra 10 tons.
