The Royal Gibraltar Police has confirmed 5 fishing boats entered Gibraltar waters on Thursday night, but that no nets were cast. A spokesman said two vessels were approached by police officers and left shortly after.
Three of the Spanish fishing boats were off the North Mole, while the other two were off the South Mole, replicating scenes that had become quite commonplace in recent months. GBC understands that the five boats in question were from the Algeciras fleet.
In answer to GBC questions, the Royal Gibraltar Police has said at this moment in time they will continue to police fishing incursions as they’ve done so in the recent past. The RGP spokesman said that already captains of four fishing vessels have been reported for process; he told GBC the police will continue to carry out executive actions depending on the circumstances of each individual case.
