Chief Minister tells GGCA it would not be appropriate to absorb employees at Master Service into the public service

The Chief Minister has told the Gibraltar General and Clerical Association that it would not be appropriate to absorb employees at Master Service into the public service.

With a tender process on the horizon, the request had been made by the GGCA union on behalf of the 110 workers it represents there, who asked Fabian Picardo to re-nationalise the service in the interests, primarily, of job security. Mr Picardo has given assurances to all individuals working at Master Service that they will be protected.

As he discussed with our reporter Jonathan Scott, the possibility of the staff organizing as a cooperative has also been mooted.
