Locals were woken up this morning by an earthquake, which struck some 160km from Gibraltar. According to the US Geological Survey the quake was a magnitude 6.6. It was followed by six aftershocks, including a 5.3-magnitude tremor. Many in Gibraltar and nearby Spain took to social media this morning saying they'd been woken up by tremors.

Reports suggest the quake hit just before 5:30 this morning in the Alboran Sea.

It is the second in 4 days. A magnitude 5.5 earthquake, also some 160km away, was reportedly felt by locals last Thursday.
