Major David King will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and appointed Commanding Officer of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment as from Monday. Major King, who became the regiment’s second-in-command last year, will be taking over from Ivor Lopez, who retires next week after four years in the role.
Lt Col Lopez was given a warm farewell from the Gibraltar Cadet Force on Thursday in his last visit to their training session, and presented with a gift by the Cadets. The event was also a first for the Cadets, who saw their old dark blue berets replaced with the Regiment’s standard khaki ones.
The training session was also attended by the Governor, Edward Davis, who promoted two cadets to the rank of sergeant.
