A man resident in Norway appeared at the magistrates’ court on child abduction charges, after he was arrested at the airport attempting to leave Gibraltar.
Mustapha Badri was flagged as wanted by the Norwegian authorities after he’s alleged to have taken his three year old son out of Norway without the knowledge and consent of the child’s mother. They had flown to Manchester before arriving in Gibraltar and had plans to continue to Morocco.
He was denied bail as he was considered him a flight risk, and is due to appear in court next week. The Norwegian authorities are seeking extradition. The child has been taken into care under police emergency protection powers.
