Local swimmer Nathan Payas has completed his "Swim for Sam", a 32km crossing of Catalina Channel in just over 9.5 hours.
Nathan left the Island of Santa Catalina on Thursday night at about 11pm local time and swam across to Long Beach Los Angeles, arriving at about 8.33 am.
He has used the swim to raise money for the Gibraltar Samaritans, a charity that will soon offer emotional support through an anonymous phone line.
Nathan has recently completed a double crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar, as well as a crossing of the English Channel.
