New regulations requires pleasure boat owners to insure boats more than six metres long or motor-powered

New regulations under the Public Health Act now requires pleasure boat owners to insure any boats which are more than six metres long, or motor-powered.

The new regulations are now in force following publication in the Gibraltar Gazette yesterday, and GBC understands the Government intends to make a statement next week.

The new small boats marina was officially inaugurated in April 2016 providing for 700 berths, but there was no legal requirement for boat owners to insure their vessels. This is now in place following the publication of the new regulations.
