The former Vice-President of the United States, Al Gore, is one of two keynote speakers announced for the Government’s upcoming “Thinking Green” conference on the environment.

In addition to his political career, Al Gore also won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work raising awareness of environmental issues. He’s possibly best known for his world-renowned documentary on climate change, “An Inconvenient Truth”. The other keynote speaker, Juan Verde, is an advisor to the current President, Barack Obama, and also served in Bill Clinton’s administration.

The Minister for the Environment, Dr John Cortes, said the “Thinking Green” conference aims to “put Gibraltar firmly on the map from an environmental perspective”. It will take place on the 21st of October, most probably at the Tercentenary Hall, and will also include a Trade Fair for environmentally friendly businesses, as well as a Gala Dinner at St. Michael’s Cave.
