For the first time, the manifestos of all the main political parties in the UK include commitments to Gibraltar. The latest, the Conservative manifesto, says the Party will protect the democratic freedom of the people of Gibraltar to remain British for as long as it their wish.
It states that while Britain was leaving the EU, it is not leaving Europe and wants to remain committed partners and allies to its friends across the continent. The final agreement, it says will be subject to a vote in both houses of Parliament.
The Government has welcomed the inclusion of Gibraltar, adding it reflects a genuine commitment across all parties to protect the Rock going forward and follows the Government’s lobbying work on this front.
