Poland could be driven to leave the EU by its right-wing government if the country stops being a net recipient of bloc funding, Donald Tusk has told the Polish press.
The European Council President, himself a former Polish Premier, warned that the Law and Justice Party had a complete disregard for EU benefits like the common market, legal order and guaranteed security. He said he could easily imagine a scenario where Poland finds itself among the net
contributors, at which time the government would call for an EU referendum, while working hard to influence a “leave” result.
