Spain would like a Brexit deal allowing British immigrants to keep existing rights, including freedom of movement. This is according to the Spanish secretary for the EU and leading Brexit negotiator, Jorge Toledo, who is quoted in the Times saying Spain is in favour of “retaining a reciprocal agreement on questions like healthcare and freedom of movement”.
Mr Toledo said Spain is in favour of the “amplest” rights of EU citizens in the UK, and UK citizens in the EU – but added the conditions will and should be negotiated. About one million British people live in Spain, more than in any other EU country.
