It was Davina’s love of performing and interest in current affairs that attracted her to the world of broadcasting. She joined GBC News in 2001 as a reporter and moved to Radio Gibraltar three years later to become the Breakfast Show's presenter. Following changes introduced at Radio Gibraltar in 2009, Davina asumed responsibility for the production of the Focus news magazine show, as well as the Breakfast and Evening Newshours.
Her job at GBC has been varied. She says “Every day presents different challenges, interesting people to interview and diverse reports to cover”.
On GBC Television, Davina forms part of the team of presenters who anchor the Newswatch programme, as well as having presented a number of community and cultural programmes over the years, which is where her History of Art degree comes in handy!
Working on Radio Gibraltar and GBC Television has seen her travel abroad to cover a number of events, from a 21-gun salute at the Tower of London by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, to The Shetland Islands for coverage of the Natwest Island Games. Davina was also a successful recipient of a Commonwealth Broadcasting Association travel bursary allowing her to spend two weeks at BBC Bristol comparing Radio and TV working methods and practices between both broadcasters.
In her spare time Davina keeps busy by involving herself in local amateur dramatics and musical performances. A sociable creature she enjoys travel food and a good read. Married to Derek she’s currently embarked on her latest adventure that of motherhood!
