Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War, this programme takes a closer look at the very significant role that Gibraltar had in the unfolding of the conflict, particularly in the early months.  In the opening days of the Spanish Civil War virtually all communications between British diplomats in Spain and the British Government were relayed through Gibraltar.  The period remains fascinating given that many of the international debates over Spain were being played out on the Rock.
