A 23 year old man has been found guilty of assault on a young woman, who had just turned 18.
Kaylan Scaniglia has been convicted of ABH and common assault as well as two charges of threats to kill, involving a knife and a pair of scissors.
He has also been found guilty of damaging his victim’s phone in the “prolonged” attack which took place last summer, leaving the woman with multiple bruises.
When giving his verdict, Stipendiary Magistrate Charles Pitto described the incident as “harrowing and humiliating”. A recording was played to the court in which you could hear the woman repeatedly cry out in pain and plead for Scaniglia to let her go.
A pre-sentencing report has been requested, and he is next due to appear in court on the 14th February. Scaniglia will be kept behind bars in the meantime.
