28.9% of population obese, Minister for Health reveals in Parliament

Interesting facts on health were thrown up in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon by the Minister for Health in answer to questions by Elliott Phillips.
Albert Isola told Parliament that 28.9 percent of the population is obese. He revealed there's a ten-month waiting list for full or partial hip replacement surgery and 10.5 months for knee surgery.
The minister said an announcement for reductions in waiting times is expected soon. Up to the 15th of May this year, 35 patients have attended A&E because of drug overdose and 11 for excess alcohol intake.
77 abortions have been carried out in Gibraltar since the legislation was introduced.
Parliament has adjourned till 3pm Thursday.
