A 50-year-old local woman has appeared before the Magistrate’s Court charged with fraud by abuse of position, and two counts of money-laundering.
Giselle McAuliffe of Mid Harbours Estate, was then an employee of the Royal Gibraltar Post Office and was arrested following complaints by senior management regarding irregularities detected on dormant deposit accounts during bank transfers.
Ms McAuliffe is alleged to have abused her position in order to dishonestly make a gain for herself or another and cause a loss to the Savings Bank. She is also charged with two counts of laundering a total of over £66,000 pounds.
The matter has been adjourned until her next appearance on the 7th March.
