The pressure group Action for Housing has called on the Government to release dates for the construction of affordable housing and rental homes.
In a press release, Action for Housing highlights that the Government announced last September that it would be building a thousand five hundred homes, under what the group terms its “so-called affordable housing scheme”. It says it welcomed this announcement, but added rental flats are also needed, especially for those on the one-bedroom list. The group goes on to cite a statement by Housing Minister, Samantha Sacramento, on GBC’s Viewpoint programme last December, that the Government “absolutely” must construct more housing for affordable rentals – but says it’s had no further news on the matter to date.
