Action for Housing has given the plans for the renewal of Road to the Lines a cautious welcome. It believes the overall pace of the upper town regeneration programme is too slow and feels a more ambitious and well planned holistic one that will yield results in a shorter period of time is necessary.
It also wonders whether those in need of a home on the Government’s waiting lists will be the ones who'll benefit from the development or whether it'll be the developers who'll be able to sell or rent to the highest bidder, further reducing the Government’s housing stock.
Jonathan Sacramento asked spokesperson Henry Pinna what Action for Housing made of the change of plans for the area.
