Andrea Bocelli will be performing in Gibraltar with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra as part of Gibraltar’s National Week Celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary year of the border closure. The concert, on 9th September, will be held at the Europa Point Sport Complex, and will be the Tenor's first visit to Gibraltar.
Bocelli is among the biggest selling solo classical artists of all time with over ninety million worldwide album sales. In his 25-year career, he has performed in front of US Presidents, the Pope, and more recently at Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding. The concert in Gibraltar will form part of his world tour and will be an "unforgettable" night of music, according to Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.
The Tenor, who has been blind from a very young age, will also be joined by his son Matteo.
Just minutes after the announcement at a Press Conference at No.6, a queue stretching out into the street could be seen at the John Mackintosh Hall as tickets began selling fast. The stadium will seat 10,000 and a maximum of four can be bought by each individual, priced at £30 each. There will be a new batch released for sale every morning this week between 11am and 2pm at the John Mackintosh Hall, and they are also available for purchase online at buytickets.gi.
