Around 2000 professionals have been trained in Child Protection safeguarding in Gibraltar, since the programme was established in 2007. The Child Protection Committee continues to raise awareness, in addition to firmly establising the importance of this. This According to the Minister for
Health, Neil Costa who says it’s essential the work is carried out in a multidisciplinary manner, adding “safeguarding is everybody’s business”.
There are trainers from the Care Agency, GHA, RGP, GSLA and Youth Service among others, with this fundamental to the success of the programme. The course delivered to professionals working with children and young people, emphasises the importance of learning, understanding and implementing systems and processes to protect them.
