Awards for 7 recipients for their contributions to the Rock's heritage

The Heritage Trust has recognised 7 recipients for their contribution to the Rock's heritage. Now in its 26th year, the event aims to highlight achievements in restoration, modernisation, adaptation and maintenance.

An additional award from Chairman of the Trust was given to John Cortes for his contributions to Gibraltar heritage.

The Awards recognised three individuals: Louis Pereira for his studies of the evacuation; Gerald Lopez for promoting Catalan Bay and; Andrew Brookes for a villa restoration at Library Gardens.

Highly commended recipients were Idan & Ruth Greenberg as well as Red Fox Ltd for the renovation of 8-10 Booth's Passage and the restoration of 1-9 Giro's Passage, respectively.

Daniel Lanigan also received a commendation for an oral history project, but was unable to attend the ceremony. The Ministry for Heritage took the group award for the successful translocation of the Dockyard Gatehouse.

Heritage Trust Chairman Ian Balestrino also showed thanks to the Government for increasing the Trust's involvement over the years, with a special award for John Cortes.
