British Airways has confirmed the launch of a new seasonal route from London Gatwick to Gibraltar. The new service will run during peak Summer season, providing an additional 37,000 return seats to the Rock.
The announcement follows on from BA’s acquisition of take-off and landing slots that became available from Gatwick, following the collapse of Monarch.
Minister for Tourism and Aviation, Gilbert Licudi, has welcomed the news and says the move “shows BA’s confidence in the Gibraltar market”.
With the seasonal charter flights from various UK regional airports recently announced by Superbreak, and the increased capacity to the Rock made possible by Easyjet’s recent aircraft upgrade; the new service will help boost inward tourism through the peak season.
The new BA Gatwick – Gibraltar service will run daily, except Tuesdays, between the 28th May and the 29th September. Flights can already be booked on ba.com
