Back-up power system failure caused RGP to lose access to 999 during power cut

The RGP was not able to respond to 999 calls during the power cut on Tuesday because of a system failure affecting the emergency back up at New Mole House.

In answer to GBC questions, the police says the station has a backup power generator but the failure resulted in a technical issue that caused this to fall short.

Meanwhile, Gibtelecom has confirmed to GBC panic buttons were operational during the outage due to their long battery life.
