Boca Juniors forfeited a first division game against Lynx yesterday afternoon, with Lynx awarded an automatic 3-0 victory as a result. This extends 8th placed Lynx's lead over 9th placed Boca to six points.
In a statement, the GFA said they viewed the forfeiture with great disappointment and noted it was the second time the club have failed to fulfil a fixture this season.
Meanwhile, a statement from Boca Juniors claims the forfeiture had nothing to do with the requirements of the home grown player rule, or the ability to field a squad. Rather, they primarily blamed an inability to source the player's registration cards in time for the match
The GFA say the integrity and reputation of the league is damaged by non-appearances and that, irrespective of reason, any failure to fulfill a fixture will be followed by severe disciplinary action.
For its part, Boca say the club is steadfast in its conviction that the circumstances which led to this situation will not occur again.
