Opposition MP Damon Bossino has called for honesty on the facts of the treaty from the Government.

The motion on the treaty text was passed unanimously in Parliament on Wednesday, with the GSD's support.

However, Mr Bossino said they could have come to an affirmative position more quickly had the Opposition been involved in negotiations - adding this is an example of the uncertainty the general public has gone through.

He said the Government must also understand the psychology behind the llanito response to certain issues, such as the question of "boots on the ground".

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister had said there would be no "boots on the ground". Fabian Picardo acknowledged there would be Spanish officers outside the Second Checks Area, but said these would not be in uniform.

Mr Bossino asked the Government not to play games with definitions.
