Brexit costs GHA £600,000 in ambulance fees in last 2 years

Published by GBC News

Brexit has cost the GHA nearly £600,000 in ambulance transfers in the last two years alone.

This is because GHA staff do not have work permits to drive ambulances in Spain unless it's an emergency.

The Government has therefore had to establish contracts with three ambulance providers in Spain, and use them for non-emergency patient transfers.

The expenses were revealed in Parliament in answer to questions from Opposition Leader Keith Azopardi.

However the Health Minister, Albert Isola, would not be drawn into the details of treaty negotiations.
