Chief Brexit negotiators have suspended direct talks today after a member of the EU team tested positive for COVID-19.
EU negotiator Michel Barnier says the teams will continue their work in full respect of the guidelines.
It is unlikely that talks will be allowed to run till the end of the year as any agreement would need ratifying.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Spain have asked the EU's executive Commission - which is negotiating with Britain on behalf of the bloc - to update emergency plans for a no deal.
