A burst water main disrupted the fresh water supply to St Bernard's Hospital this morning.

The Government said the damaged pipe is directly beneath the hospital's incoming valve and the affected section would need to be replaced.

A temporary bypass from the adjacent catering facility to maintain the hospital's water supply, however demand exceeded the temporary supply, resulting in disruption lasting around two hours.

The problem has now been resolved.
