CAT 2 residents to be charged for their children’s education

Cat 2 residents may be charged for sending their children to Government schools in the future.

The move comes alongside recently announced stricter residency rules, aimed at ending what the Chief Minister described as a 'free for all'.

He said he wanted to make it clear that Cat 2 was a 'stand on your own two feet' route to residency.

Published in the Gazette, the Bill will be debated in Parliament and sees the amendment being proposed to the Education and Training Act.

However, Fabian Picardo said told Katy Docker no decision has yet been made on the level of fees.
