Chief Minister accuses GSD Leader of 'dragging politics into the gutter'

The Chief Minister has accused the GSD Leader of “taking politics down to the gutter” after he criticised the appointment of UK lawyer Daniel Greenberg to draft the Conflict of Interest Bill.

The legislation was a key recommendation of the McGrail Inquiry report.

Keith Azopardi argued that Mr Greenberg should not have been engaged because of his close links to both the Government and Hassans.

However, speaking to Christina Cortes, Fabian Picardo said Mr Azopardi’s comments were self-serving and “incongruous” with his own position, adding he has misunderstood what Sir Peter Openshaw said.
