Chief Minister claims broad consultation on a Customs Agreement

The Government accused Roy Clinton of being nonsensical and intellectually and politically dishonest.

Number Six says it has made it clear that a treaty on customs arrangements is an option, adding however, that it's not an option we have chosen to consider - but one we must if we want to secure maximum fluidity at the frontier.

The Government said it's working with all industry representative bodies and relevant commercial operators to analyse the different permutations. This includes the potential to do no arrangement at all.

Speaking to GBC editor Christine Vasquez, the Chief Minister said a relationship with the Customs Union has to be seen in the context of Gibraltar's departure from the EU and the current negotiations. He points out that in a negotiation both sides have to give and take but will always aim to achieve the best possible outcome.
