Chief Minister to update Parliament on EU treaty negotiations in Budget session on Tuesday

The Chief Minister will update Parliament on the progress of the negotiations for a future relationship treaty with the EU, in his address during the Budget session on Tuesday.

Fabian Picardo was responding to a question from Leader of the Opposition, Keith Azopardi, who asked him whether - as recently reported in the Spanish press - the proposed treaty will have approximately 300 articles.

Mr Picardo said the number of articles will be known only when the treaty is drafted, and that any suggestion otherwise is mere speculation.

The Opposition also put questions regarding the number of referrals of under 18 year olds to mental health services in recent years.

From the response, they highlighted that these amounted to over 100 each year in 2019 and 2021, and a number just as high for the first five months of this year.

Mr Azopardi asked whether the Government believed this was of concern, with Minister for Health, Albert Isola, agreeing that it was, but also referring to increased awareness as well as the Mental Health Strategy.

Parliament has adjourned till the Budget session on Tuesday morning at 10.30.
