Gibraltar will renew its call to be removed from the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories when the Chief Minister addresses the UN Committee of 24 in New York on Monday.

Accompanied by the Deputy Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo will also reaffirm the right of the people of Gibraltar to determine their own future.

The Government says the visit forms part of its long-standing policy of presenting Gibraltar's position to the United Nations.

The Chief Minister is expected to return on Tuesday, while Joseph Garcia remains in New York on Government business until Wednesday.

During their absence, John Cortes will act as Chief Minister.
