The Chief Minister has urged the United Nations General Assembly to break its silence and remove Gibraltar from its list of non-self-governing territories.

Fabian Picardo delivered his first address to the Fourth Committee since the treaty agreement was confirmed earlier this summer.

He accused it of failing to fulfil its mandate.

Mr Picardo said he was not there to ask for favours, but to demand a right that is non-negotiable-the right to self-determination.

The Chairman of the Self Determination for Gibraltar Group, Richard Buttigieg, also addressed the Committee.

The UK and Spain are expected to exercise their right of reply next week.
