Some of the best football players ever to wear a Gibraltar kit have said an emotional farewell to the Victoria Stadium.

A legends match brought to a close ‘The Final Whistle’, an event organised by the Gibraltar Football Association.

Colin Ramirez scored the winning goal in a 2:1 that featured players in their forties through to their seventies. Colin said he was humbled to have been a part of such a meaningful event representing so many shared moments at the stadium over so many decades.

"A massive shout out for Roy Chipolina for working so hard to make it happen. Shows the kind of person he is and showed his passion to ensure all generations were represented today."

He said he was sad to see the end of it but also excited about the future.

The turf will soon be rolled up and relocated elsewhere in Gibraltar, though the GFA has not yet confirmed where. General Secretary Ivan Robba said discussions with the government are ongoing.
