Convent to protest incursion by Spanish state airplane on Thursday

The Convent is to protest an incursion by a Spanish state airplane Thursday afternoon.

The incursion saw a British Airways flight delayed from landing for a quarter of an hour, as the Spanish airplane had not communicated with Gibraltar's Air Traffic Control tower.

A spokesperson for the Convent told GBC this was done for safety reasons, as the Spanish plane's trajectory was not known, but that there was no danger as the planes did not come near each other.

He added the Foreign Office will further investigate the details of the incident, and will protest it. GBC reached out to the Ministry of Defence for comment, and is awaiting a reply.

A spokesperson for Number Six told GBC the Government is still trying to establish the facts of the mater before it comments.
