COVID-19: Cases on the rise. Public urged to avoid large gatherings

57 new cases today brings the total number of active cases to 359, with five in hospital and one of these in the CCU.

The government says these positive cases reflect an upward spiral and to limit mixing as Public Health has identified a number of organised events that have led to the spread of Covid.

The public is being urged to avoid large gatherings, meet in outdoor spaces when possible and to wear a mask when prescribed by law among other recommendations intended to limit the spread of Covid.

The booster vaccination campaign is currently underway, and members of the public are strongly encouraged to register their interest online at gha.gi

The government strongly advises against any large informal social events, parties or receptions being held over at least the next four weeks.

At this stage people are being called upon to exercise their own judgement, but, as has happened in the past, this advice may change going forward.
