Passengers travelling to Gibraltar by air from the UK will continue to be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival, the Government has announced.
It follows concerns set out by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, over the spread of the Indian variant of the virus in the UK.
Number Six says that given this evolving situation, the Government met on Monday morning with GHA Consultant Microbiologist, Dr Nick Cortes, to obtain his advice. The decision was then taken to continue testing arrivals with a quick lateral flow test, at no charge to the traveller, while more information on the effect of the Indian variant is assessed.
Earlier this month, the Chief Minister told Sky News that people travelling from the UK to Gibraltar would not need a PCR test in order to do so.
