Demonstration by Open Your Eyes pressure group that was to be held Wednesday cancelled

A demonstration by the Open Your Eyes pressure group that was to be held Wednesday has been cancelled.

According to a Facebook post by founding member, Clive Borrell, this was down to "adverse and potentially risky extenuating circumstances".

The organisers also claim that a group of people had planned to disrupt or undermine what it says was intended to be a peaceful demonstration.

Additionally, they refer to unnamed "locally-based professional speakers" who had withdrawn from the event over the weekend.

The group says it left no channel unexplored in finding an alternative to calling the event off.
