Deputy Governor, Alison MacMillan, was sworn in as interim Governor at the Convent this afternoon.
The appointment was made by the UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on approval by the Queen.
Ms Macmillan was appointed Deputy Governor in 2013, having joined the Foreign and Commonwealth office in 1982. She has also previously been Head of the FCO’s Gibraltar Section, and Assistant Deputy Governor in Gibraltar.
Mrs MacMillan now formally assumes the functions of Governor, until a successor is announced. It is not known when this is expected.
