Driver and company charged after truck oil spill gridlocks traffic

Police urged caution at midday as a truck spilled oil around Gibraltar's roads.

Areas affected were Devil's Tower Rd, Line Wall Rd, Prince Edward's Rd, Hospital Hill and Town Range. Traffic delays were caused around the Rock while the spill was cleaned up.

At around midday, Britannia began sanding roads to soak up the oil as Police implemented road blocks and diversions.

The driver of the truck has been reported for process for seven counts of dangerous driving and not being in possession of a valid MOT certificate.

The company director has been charged with not providing adequate maintenance of the vehicle or loading so as not to cause a danger, as well as not providing a valid MOT.
