ESG asks what systems are in place to ensure seagull droppings don't compromise effectiveness of solar panels

The Environmental Safety Group has noted with concern the rapid accumulation of seagull droppings on the recently installed solar panels on the roof of New Harbours.

It asks what systems, if any, have been put in place to manage the situation, especially during seagull breeding season, and the summer months.

It points out bird droppings can lead to loss of output as well as contributing to electrical issues within the panels themselves.

The ESG says other areas have benefited from the use of falcon kites and suggests that this and other deterrents be considered.
