ESG raises concerns over 22,000 litre palm oil spill in Algeciras Port

The Environmental Safety Group says it's concerned to hear about a palm oil spill in the Port of Algeciras.

According to reports in the regional press, around 22000 litres of palm oil were spilled into the sea while a container was being unloaded.

The ESG says authorities throughout the Bay are urged to monitor marine and bird life for potential impacts.

It says while palm oil is not as toxic as diesel, it understands large quantities can affect coastal ecosystems.
