A Europa FC player has been banned from playing football for seven years, while three other players also received lengthy suspensions after being found guilty of breaches of the GFA's betting regulations.
The club told GBC this evening, it is saddened by the personal actions taken by a small group of players and condemns this type of activity.
An in-depth investigation into the players activities began last October by the GFA'sIntegrity Unit. As a result, Spanish national Ivan Moya Tornay was banned from all football activities as well as being fined £1,500.
Argentinian Martin Belfortti was sanctioned for five years, receiving a £1,200 fine. While two more Spanish players, Guillermo Roldan and Alberto Merino received bans of eighteen and nine months respectively, and fines of £500 and £250.
Europa FC said it believes that there is no place in the club or in football for persons who let their clubs down in this manner.
Gibraltar's premier division team said it has always set to uphold the highest standards possible, both on and off the football pitch, and there is zero tolerance for such actions from any individuals who are employed by Europa Football Club.
It says it is supporting the GFAin their extensive investigation and are at their full disposition in any future line of inquiry.
