The Fire and Rescue Service has been carrying out preparatory training before it takes possession of its new specialised Aerial Ladder Platform to handle high-rise and complex building emergencies.

The platform is expected to arrive in April next year.

Five GFRS firefighters have completed their C Licence allowing them to drive large trucks weighing more than 3500kg.

The Government says this marks an important step in their professional development and enhances operational capabilities.

The second round of firefighter training is now underway, allowing further members of the Service to gain this licence.

Training on how to operate the Aerial Ladder Platform will take place once it’s on the Rock.
